Travis Walton
Walton was working with a logging crew in Arizona in November 1975 when, according to the group's account, they encountered a bright unidentified object in a forest clearing. Walton said he approached it and was struck by a force or beam. The other workers fled. Walton was subsequently missing for several days and later reported an experience involving unfamiliar beings and a technological environment. The story became one of the best-known alleged alien-abduction cases in the United States.
The encounter is frequently summarized as a single event, but there are actually several evidentiary questions: what the crew saw, what happened to Walton after the others departed, what his disappearance can establish, and how his later narrative developed. Each question deserves separate treatment. Even if witnesses sincerely describe an unusual light, that does not automatically verify Walton's account of what happened during his absence.
