Anthony William, Medical Medium
What if you did not create your illness — and the gland that “failed” is a symptom, not the cause?

This department is a course in understanding, not a clinic. Nothing here is medical advice, diagnosis, or a treatment plan. If you are ill, pregnant, feeding a child, or taking medicine, speak with a clinician who knows your case. Emergency symptoms need emergency care.
Anthony William publishes as Medical Medium. He says a voice he has heard since childhood — Spirit — gives him information about illness and food that medical research has not yet reached. This university studies that teaching as a teaching, names the books, and does not copy the recipes.
The wider picture
Anthony William publishes as Medical Medium. He says a voice he has heard since childhood — Spirit — gives him information about illness and food that medical research has not yet reached. That origin story is the teaching’s own account of itself. It is not a laboratory credential, and this site does not pretend otherwise.
The four books and booklets on the desk for this department are Medical Medium Thyroid Healing (Hay House, 2017), Medical Medium Liver Rescue (Hay House, 2018), the Liver Rescue 3:6:9 protocol in Chapter 38 of that book (the scanned 3–6–9 booklet consulted here is image-based; citations go to the published chapter), and Healing Recipes for EBV, a short publisher PDF of plant-based dishes from medicalmedium.com.
Summaries below are in our own words. Recipes, dose charts, and the full protocols stay with Hay House and medicalmedium.com.
The thyroid virus
In , Chapter 1, William says a problematic thyroid is a symptom, not the ultimate cause. The cause he names is Epstein-Barr virus, which he calls the thyroid virus: the same herpesvirus that causes mononucleosis, said here to have four stages, the third of which targets the thyroid and explains over 95 percent of thyroid problems, with the remaining 5 percent blamed on radiation. He describes more than sixty strains in six groups, most of them unknown to medical research, and says Hashimoto’s, Graves’, nodules, and most thyroid cancers are viral rather than the gland attacking itself.
EBV as medicine knows it
Epstein-Barr virus (human herpesvirus 4) is real. It causes infectious mononucleosis, and it is an established cause of several cancers (including Burkitt lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma). A 2022 Science paper found a very strong association between EBV infection and later multiple sclerosis. That is ground. What has not been established is William’s further claim that EBV explains over 95 percent of thyroid disease, most autoimmunity, and nearly all cancer. Conventional thyroidology still treats Hashimoto’s as autoimmune thyroiditis. Some research explores viral triggers; it has not adopted his four-stage map or his sixty-strain taxonomy.
You did not create your illness
Thyroid Healing’s “Great Mistakes” include blaming metabolism, genes, inflammation-as-cause, and the idea that a person manifested their disease. William’s stated aim is to take self-blame out of the equation. Whatever one makes of the viral theory, that moral sentence can be read on its own: chronic illness is not a cosmic punishment.
The Unforgiving Four
Chapter 16 of names radiation, a viral explosion, DDT (and related pesticides), and toxic heavy metals as the ignored drivers of chronic illness. Metals, he says, oxidise, stain tissue, and become food for pathogens including EBV. then describes the liver as the organ that disarms and detains those materials, long before enzymes rise on a blood test.
Liver Rescue 3:6:9
Chapter 38 of is the published 3:6:9. Days 1–3 (“The 3”) prepare: lemon or lime water, then about 16 ounces of plain celery juice, fruit and glucose-rich foods such as potato and squash, dietary fat cut by at least half and held until dinner, animal food if eaten only at dinner, and no gluten, dairy, eggs, lamb, canola, or pork for the nine days. Days 4–6 (“The 6”) are the liver’s “prime time to clean,” with the same morning liquids and a tighter plate. Days 7–9 (“The 9”) are the deepest restriction, using the glycogen stored earlier to “propel poisons” out of the liver, in William’s phrasing. He warns against undereating and against treating the cleanse as a hunger diet.
Foods he asks people to drop
The 90-Day Thyroid Rehab in asks readers, during the protocol, to take out eggs, dairy (including milk, cream, yogurt, cheese, kefir, and ghee), gluten, canola, corn, soy, and pork. The 3:6:9 list is close: gluten, dairy, eggs, lamb, canola, pork. These are his exclusions for a healing interval. They are not WHO’s exclusions for the general population.
Where nutrition does not follow him
WHO 2026: fat is an essential nutrient; adults need at least 15 percent of energy from fat, and two fatty acids cannot be made by the body. Eggs and gluten are not universally harmful. A diet that drops animal foods for a long time needs a plan for vitamin B12, iodine, and, for some people, iron and calcium. William’s low-fat, fruit-heavy plate can be nutritionally generous in vitamin C and potassium and still be incomplete. That is not an argument against fruit. It is an argument against copying a cleanse as a standing diet without looking at the gaps.
How this university reads him
William is a major contemporary voice for a plant-rich, hydrating, food-first life, and his readers often come to him after years of not being believed. Those facts belong on the page. His specific claims about viruses, metals, and juices belong in the teaching layer. Overlap with public-health advice (plants, water, less ultra-processed food) is overlap, not confirmation. Spirit is not a second laboratory.
Practice
- Read Thyroid Healing Chapter 1 and Liver Rescue Chapter 1 as primary texts if the teaching matters to you. This page is a map, not a replacement.
- If you use a protocol from the books, do it as the book describes, for the interval it describes, and with a clinician in the loop if you have a diagnosis, take medicine, are pregnant, or feed a child.
- Keep original recipes on medicalmedium.com. The EBV booklet on the desk is a pattern-book of fruit, greens, herbs, celery juice, cucumber juice, aloe water, ginger water, and broth — cited here as a pattern, not copied.
